As President and Chief Executive Officer of BlueRidge Bank, J. Brian Gaeng has spent the past 30 years with Maryland commercial banks. From 1987 until he joined the Company in 2007, Mr. Gaeng worked in an executive capacity for community banks owned by Mercantile Bankshares Corporation. From August 2003 to June 2007, he served as president for Fidelity Bank in Hagerstown. Prior to that, he worked for Fredericktown Bank for 16 years, including nine years as Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Gaeng’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in economics from Roanoke College and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Loyola College. He has chaired the boards of several community organizations in Frederick County, including the Frederick Memorial Health Care Systems, Frederick County Economic Development Commission, the Community Foundation of Frederick, and the Frederick County YMCA. Mr. Gaeng has also served on the Boards of Trustees of both Hood College and Mount Saint Mary's University. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Frederick.

Prior to joining the bank in 2007, David L. Hoffman, our Senior Credit Officer and Executive Vice President, spent 27 years with commercial banks affiliated with Mercantile Bankshares Corporation. During that time, he served as senior lender at Fredericktown Bank and Chief Credit Officer for Farmers & Mechanics Bank.
Mr. Hoffman's education includes an associate’s degree in accounting from Frederick Community College and numerous banking related courses. He has served in leadership roles with numerous non-profit organizations including Federated Charities of Frederick, Frederick Community College Foundation and the Rotary Club of Frederick.

Richard C. Marshall III

BlueRidge Bank’s Senior Lending Officer and Executive Vice President has 39 years of banking experience with almost 31 of those years in the Western Maryland market. For the past 27 years, Mr. Marshall has focused on commercial banking, serving in business development, credit and supervisory positions. Prior to joining the Company in 2007, Mr. Marshall served as Executive Vice President-Senior Lending Officer of Fidelity Bank, an affiliate of Mercantile Bankshares Corporation. Previously, he was Senior Vice President-Commercial Lending at Fredericktown Bank, another Mercantile affiliate, and market president for the Western Maryland region at Bank of America.
Mr. Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He has served in leadership positions on various civic and non-profit boards, including the United Way of Frederick, the Salvation Army, the Hagerstown Rotary Club and the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.

Tim Daly is Executive Vice President of BlueRidge Bank’s Baltimore office, which was established in 2010 to serve the banking needs of local businesses and their owners and employees, professionals and not-for-profit organizations. A seasoned banking professional and lifelong resident of Baltimore, Mr. Daly served at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust from 1982 to 2007, where he rose to the position of Executive Vice President/Chief Credit Officer. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President/Regional Manager for Chevy Chase Bank’s commercial banking division for the Baltimore metropolitan market.
Mr. Daly attended Boys’ Latin School for 12 years and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, with a specialty in business. He was a four-year starter on the Cornell lacrosse team and a three-time Division I All-American, and was inducted into Cornell’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. A graduate of Stonier Banking Graduate School, Mr. Daly has served on the board of the Children’s Home as well as the Boys’ Latin School Alumni Board.

Tim Henry is Executive Vice President for BlueRidge Bank and directly responsible for the Bank's growth in Hagerstown and Washington County. The Bank established its first office in Washington County in 2012 to serve the banking needs of area profit and not-for-profit businesses, their owners and employees. With over 30 years banking experience, including the last 15 years in Hagerstown / Washington County, Tim looks forward to building Blue Ridge Bank's presence in Washington County to that of a market leader.
Tim graduated from Penn State University and earned his MBA from St. Joseph's University. Tim and his family have lived in Washington County since 1997 and Tim is heavily involved in the community with leadership roles in the Boys and Girls Club, Meritus Foundation, PenMar Development Corporation and his church. Tim is also the past Chairman of the Hagerstown Washington County Chaimber of Commerce and the Hagerstown Washington County of Economic Development Comission.

A commercial banker for 26 years, Michael A. Schuchardt offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his position as Senior Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer of BlueRidge Bank. Before joining BlueRidge Bank, he spent six years with Mercantile affiliates Fredericktown Bank and Farmers & Mechanics Bank, serving the local commercial market.
As an active member of the community, Mr. Schuchardt belongs to the Rotary Club of Frederick. Mr. Schuchardt also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Frederick Rescue Mission as well as a core leader for the local Teen Community Bible study group. Mr. Schuchardt is a former member of the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Schuchardt earned his degree in accounting from Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University) in 1986, completed formal credit training in 1987 and in 1995 graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking, the preeminent executive management school for the financial services industry. Hugh L. Robinson II is Senior Vice President of BlueRidge Bank’s Baltimore office, which was established in 2010 to serve the banking needs of local businesses and their owners as well as employees, professionals and not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining BlueRidge Bank, Mr. Robinson served for 10 years at Bay National Bank in Baltimore, most recently as Executive Vice President and Senior Lender. Previously, he was Vice President, commercial banking, for Citizens National Bank, an affiliate of the former Mercantile Bankshares Corporation. Mr. Robinson spent the first 16 years of his career with the First National Bank of Maryland, ending his service there as Vice President in the Foreign Direct Investment Division of the International Banking Group.
Mr. Robinson is a 1980 graduate of Washington & Lee University and is a past member of the board of directors of the Washington & Lee Alumni Association. He currently serves as treasurer of the Society of Colonial Wars in Maryland. Mr. Robinson has served as vice president of the board of directors for Baltimore’s Star Spangled Banner Flag House and on the Baltimore County Ethics Commission. In addition, he is past chairman of the Commission on Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland.

Mary Ellen Barthelme joined BlueRidge Bank in July 2010 as Vice President in the Bank’s Baltimore office in Towson. A banking industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Barthelme manages customer deposit relationships with a focus on professional service companies, not-for-profit organizations and private banking clients throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area. Prior to joining BlueRidge Bank, she held the position of Senior Vice President and Private Client Relationship manager for 10 years at Bay National Bank where she was responsible for expanding the bank’s deposit and loan presence with business and professional customers. Before her tenure with Bay National, Ms. Barthelme served as Vice President and Relationship Manager at the Bank of Maryland in Towson. She began her banking career at Mercantile Bank where she managed retail offices in the bank’s branch system for 12 years.
Ms. Barthelme earned a bachelor’s degree from Hollins College in Roanoke, Va. and has participated in ongoing training throughout her career pertaining to commercial and consumer compliance issues. She serves on the board of directors of the GBMC Foundation and is a committee member for Gallagher Services as well as an advisory board member for the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart in Baltimore. In the past, she chaired a major fundraising event for Catholic Charities. Ms. Barthelme is a lifelong resident of Baltimore and resides in Lutherville with her family.
